ADULT CLASS SCHEDULE
Drawing I Class – Monday – 10:00 – 12:00 (taught by Ellen Anne Burtner)
Each student will work on projects in still life and animals, emphasizing composition and mark-making. These studies will be investigated in pencil and charcoal. (Please note that this is a five-week class beginning January 26, 2026.)
Drawing II Class – Monday – 10:00 – 12:00 (taught by Ellen Anne Burtner)
Each student will work on projects in portraits and landscapes, emphasizing composition and mark-making. These studies will be investigated in pencil and charcoal. (Please note that this is a five-week class beginning March 2, 2026.)
Printmaking Class – Tuesday – 1:00 – 3:00 (taught by Ellen Anne Burtner)
Each student will work on relief cuts with both linoleum blocks and rubber E-Z cut, stamps made from nature, stencils and monoprints. These will be investigated in color and black and white. We are very excited to offer this class with our new printing press that we will use during the semester.
Beginning Watercolor Class – Wednesday – 10:00 – 12:00 (taught by Lauri Cragg)
Each student will focus on the fundamentals of watercolor including mixing colors, brush techniques, and layering. A variety of watercolor techniques will be demonstrated over the course of the semester. This class is recommended for beginning watercolor students prior to taking our advanced watercolor class.
Advanced Watercolor Class – Wednesday – 1:00 – 3:00 (taught by Ellen Anne Burtner and Mary Lipnick)
Each student will work on watercolor projects from still life and photos. A variety of watercolor techniques will be demonstrated over the course of the semester.
Pastel Drawing Class – Wednesday – 3:30 – 5:30 (taught by Ellen Anne Burtner and Mary Lipnick)
Each student will work on projects from still life and photos. A variety of pastel and charcoal techniques will be demonstrated over the course of the semester.
Acrylic Class – Thursday – 10:00 – 12:00 (taught by Lauri Cragg)
Each student will work on projects from still life and photos. A variety of acrylic techniques will be demonstrated over the course of the semester.
Multimedia Class – Thursday – 1:00 – 3:00 (taught by Ellen Anne Burtner and Mary Lipnick)
Each student will work independently on his or her individual project using a variety of water-based media with an emphasis on drawing and sketching. Media choices include watercolor, water-based inks, acrylic, pastel, collage, colored pencil, charcoal, and printmaking.
STUDENT (Third Grade through teen) CLASS SCHEDULE
Multimedia Class Monday – 4:00 - 6:00 (taught by Ellen Anne Burtner and Patty Thrash)
Each student will work independently on his or her individual project using a variety of water based media with an emphasis on drawing and sketching. Media choices include watercolor, water-based inks, acrylic, pastel, collage, colored pencil and charcoal.
OTHER INFORMATION
WHEN? Monday, January 26, 2026, through Thursday, April 16, 2026. (10 weeks). Drawing I class to be held January 26, 2026, through February 23, 2026, and Drawing II class to be held March 2, 2026, through April 13, 2026. Each session will be five weeks. No classes will be held the week of March 9-12 (Spring Break) or March 30 - April 2 (Easter Week)
WHERE? Our classes are held in the beautiful, large space located in the MDUMC West Campus at the Music and Arts Center (adjacent to T.J. Maxx). Our address is 13186 Memorial Drive 77079.
COST? The cost for the regular ten-week classes is $285 for the semester. The five-week drawing classes tuition is $145 per session or $285 for both. While all supplies will be provided, students are encouraged to purchase their own supplies so that they can work on their art projects outside of class. Payment for the semester is due at the first day of class. Checks should be made payable to MDUMC.
All classes are subject to a minimum number of students and teachers are subject to change throughout the semester.
